In our fast-paced world, time is a valuable commodity. Between work, family, relationships, friendships, and other obligations, we juggle so many different priorities that it can be challenging to know if we are spending our time and energy on the things that truly matter. The wisdom of Kabbalah provides tools and understanding for each of us to make sure our days, weeks, and months are focused on the important, productive things that bring lasting fulfillment.

Here are 3 tips to prioritize what matters most:

1. Take note of where you are spending your time.

We can separate life into two categories: important things that give energy to ourselves and others and unimportant things that are not productive for us or the world. You’ve likely experienced a time when you were incredibly stressed, upset, or anxious about something that, in hindsight, really didn’t matter that much. Often, we experience so much drama about silly things because that is what we are focused on, rather than devoting time to more important areas of life. We get caught up in who we think slighted us or didn’t behave the way we wanted them to, and we lose sight of what really matters.

Take a moment to look at your day, your week, and your month. What percentage of your time was spent on something productive like creating, giving love, and sharing with others, and how much time was spent in thoughts, conversation, and actions of anger, disappointment, or negativity? Strive to spend more and more of your time on the first category and continue to track your progress.

2. Shift your mindset from “What can life give me?” to “What can I give life?”

We often have an image of what our lives “should” look like. We fixate on the things we hope to receive from the Universe, but don’t often give our attention to what we put into the world. We are meant to be revealers of Light. That means giving more and more of ourselves, expressing the truest part of our souls. Our Light shines through sharing truth, kindness, compassion, and empathy with others.

Our soul, the essence of our being, is only truly satisfied when actively revealing itself. The happiest and most fulfilled people are those who are not just focused on their next hit of fun or enjoyment but who make sure they are outwardly revealing their Light to others every day. When revealing your Light becomes your driving principle, you naturally behave differently and become busy with different things than you would otherwise.

3. Know that what you can achieve is limitless.

The biggest reason people are busy with the wrong things is that they not only fail to see what they can become, they view themselves as lowly. We greatly underestimate what we are capable of becoming and achieving, especially when trying to do something we really desire, and so we tend to stop trying. We may start comparing ourselves to others, thinking we could never do what they can. We don’t believe in our ability to be great and to influence the world.

Our souls are limitless with endless potential. We are not meant to settle. When we awaken this understanding within ourselves, we can start working towards revealing our unique power. Spending our time and energy on revealing that part of ourselves is so much more impactful than the unimportant things we busy ourselves with every day.

Challenge the thought that you aren’t enough. Strive to awaken a greater appreciation for your soul’s power and be curious about how to meet yourself more. Believe in yourself and direct your energy towards revealing your potential.

Our time is limited. There are only so many hours in a day and only so many years in a lifetime. Life can easily pass us by if we focus on the things that don’t last. Love, compassion, and sharing are eternal pursuits. Even knowing this, we can still get caught up in the busyness of everyday life. Take a moment to think about where you are spending your time, shift your mindset to evaluate how you can share more, and believe that what you are capable of is endless. With that consciousness, you can direct your time and energy to the things that last forever.
