This New Moon signals the second month of Pisces (Adar). Interestingly, this moon begins with the sun already in Pisces, making the New Moon (which is the sun and moon’s conjunction) fall in the same sign as the sun. Generally, the New Moon happens in a different sign, but the birth of the moon and the lunar month (known as the molad in Hebrew) happens hours later in a different sign, based on an equation from the kabbalists using astrological information in Jerusalem. Having the New Moon outside of the sign it’s welcoming dilutes its energy. However, this month, it isn’t so. Now, the sun’s conjunction with the moon will happen in the sign of the incoming month, intensifying its energy. Furthermore, Rav Berg always taught that the energy of the second month of Pisces is much stronger than the first.
“The energy of the second month of Pisces is much stronger than the first.”
What can we expect with this Piscean energy? Likely, our emotions and sensitivities will become intense. We’ll be able to express these emotions much better, bringing them to the surface. We’ll also allow ourselves to be more vulnerable and feel greater empathy for ourselves and others. Pisceans also bring forth a lot of creativity and artistic skill. Our intuition gets sharp. We’re more open to spirituality. It is a propitious time for introspection, letting go, and prayer. On the other hand, we may also experience victimhood, hypersensitivity, and evasiveness this month. Pisces brings its moments of indecision and a savior complex where we create overdependence, especially in relationships.
Aside from the moon and sun, we also have Saturn and Neptune in the sign of Pisces. This grouping of planets in the water element is important while we have three planets in air signs bringing out cold intellectualism and two planets in earth supporting practicality and reason. In turn, the air and earth will definitely help us strike a balance with the excess of watery energy. What is lacking in this period is fire, which brings enthusiasm, passion, and impulsiveness. This may affect fire signs (Aries, Leo, and Sagittarius), as they won’t feel in their element.
It’s important to remember Saturn, the great teacher. Saturn in Pisces makes us work on our emotions: taking responsibility for them, solving them, and maturing in this area of life. It is a job for every sign, but those born under the sign of Pisces will feel a lot of pressure from this planet’s pull. Above all, Saturn can make them feel blocked. If they are mature and take responsibility for their emotions, there is a huge opportunity for growth here.
Neptune, with whom the sun finds itself in this period of time, brings us much creativity and artistic sensibilities. Neptune is the planet of illusion and fantasy, as well as spirituality. In Pisces, Neptune greatly amplifies its energy. When the sun and Neptune meet on March 16th, this energy will be even more illuminated and within all of our reach. But we must be careful not to get carried away by illusions and expectations. It’s especially important not to avoid responsibility.
On March 21st, the sun enters Aries even though we continue in the lunar cycle of Pisces II on the kabbalistic calendar. On the sun’s arrival into this sign, we have what is known as the astrological New Year, the spring equinox in the Northern Hemisphere (or fall in the Southern Hemisphere). Astrologically, Aries is the first sign of the Zodiac, associated with strength, initiative, and the quest for new beginnings. In this period, the energy may be more upbeat and dynamic. After all, Aries is a warrior who loves confrontation. Notably, Aries will bring the fire energy so lacking in the sky, lending us its force of enthusiasm and self-esteem.
“In Libra, this eclipse will affect relationships, balance, and harmony.”
On March 25th, we have two important events: Purim and a lunar eclipse in Libra. This means the sun will be in Aries with the moon facing it in Libra. A lunar eclipse is when the moon passes through Earth’s shadow. Eclipses reveal and show us things hidden on the surface. They also bring news. Usually, Purim happens while the sun is in Pisces and the moon in Virgo. In Libra, this eclipse will affect relationships, balance, and harmony.
On April 8th, we have the New Moon of Aries, the kabbalistic month of Nissan. There will be a solar eclipse greatly diluting the effects of the sun in Aries, and those most affected will be the ones born under this sign. This eclipse blocks energy and will feel like a blackout, eclipsing or weakening concepts associated with Aries – such as force, aggression, and egocentrism. This will usher in an energy of harmony with more openings for dialogue and diplomacy.
