We begin the week with many celestial bodies in Gemini, the constellation of communication—Mercury, Venus, the sun, and the point of tikkune, the North Node. Mercury is very strong in its own sign of Gemini. The cosmos comes to show us that our life's blessings and "curses" are the results of what we speak!

In the ancient days, there was a prophet called Ezra who divided the Torah chapters so that every story relates to a specific week and period of the year.

As such, all stories associated with the month of Gemini have to do with words.

  1. Last week, we read from Naso, which is the longest portion of the entire Bible, with the most amount of verses.
  2. This week, which begins on May 23rd (Beha'alotcha), Miriam speaks ill of her brother, Moses, and due to that, she contracts leprosy.
  3. Next week, we read about the ten spies that spoke ill of the spiritual land of Israel and received 40 years of challenging times.
  4. And the following week, we read about 250 men, led by Korach, who decided to spread evil speech about Moses and Aaron. As a result, an earthquake swallows all of them.

Wow! How interesting! Kabbalah teaches us that the Torah is a code, and the Zohar explains that our words have the power to influence our physical and spiritual life energy. What power we hold in our hands and mouths!

Therefore, perhaps the best advice for this week comes from the following section of the Zohar, the portion of this week, Beha’alotcha, verse 138:

"Therefore, it is ill-advised for a person to curse himself when he is angry, since many ADVERSARIES are standing by to accept such speeches, MEANING THAT HIS CURSE WILL COME TRUE. " —Zohar, Beha’alotcha, verse 138
