Chodesh tov! October is one of the most revelatory and decisive months of 2023 for two reasons. First, eclipse season returns, opening and closing doors by mixing the past with the present and future. Second, Pluto—the planet of collective transformation—will be incredibly active this month, pushing the boundaries of our consciousness. This will be a month of huge surrender and growth as we ride the waves of massive change!
“This month, we have the chance to make important changes in our lives.”
On October 16th, we have the arrival of the majestic “ring of fire” New Moon of Scorpio solar eclipse. Having accumulated the energy from all of the high holidays, this month, we have the chance to make important changes in our lives. This new moon illuminates the issues that need to be healed within our closest bonds. The people who come into our lives now arrive for a very specific reason, almost as if it was “meant to be.”
This New Moon is combined with a solar eclipse, which is the second eclipse in a set occurring along the Aries-Libra axis from April of 2023 to March of 2025. The first one was a total solar eclipse in late Aries. While we’ve been focusing on building our independence and working on assertiveness since April, this October eclipse in Libra prompts us to consider a healthy way to relate to others and how this impacts our spiritual process. This month, we have the chance to make important changes in our lives.
According to Rav Berg, the month of Scorpio is called the “Moon of Bul,” which comes from the Hebrew word bilbul, meaning confusion and disorder. So, accordingly, this month, we may find it hard to maintain focus and hold on to orderly thinking processes. The energy that dominates this month comes to us through the planet Mars (the planet related to war), flowing through the sign of Scorpio, which determines the manner in which this energy shall be revealed throughout the month. Scorpio connects to the power of the surrounding Light, the hidden potential. This refers to the 72 Names of God—a kind of “spiritual keyboard” that guides us to achieve “mind over matter.”
And so, the New Moon of Scorpio, the first day of the lunar month of Cheshvan, is considered the strongest day of the year since it is related to the revelation of consciousness, the state of “loving thy neighbor as thyself.”
“Scorpio can guide you through the process of transmuting pain into power.”
This month, we may feel inspired to connect with the spiritual world. For the next four weeks, allow yourself to truly sink into the levels of your soul, especially if you’ve recently experienced a lot of shifts in your life. Scorpio can guide you through the process of transmuting pain into power. If something big comes to an end for you now, let it go and make room for something better down the road!
