Capricorn and Saturn Energy

Welcome to the Saturnine season and the month of Capricorn! And, of course, the Winter Solstice. You might be thinking, “What? Already?” Yes, it’s here. You don’t have to be an astrologer to know that the season of longer nights is here. But that’s not the only major thing happening. This is an eventful month.

"Let’s share more and love more this month."

We just completed a cycle of Mercury retrograde. As we enter the New Moon of Capricorn, we fall under the influence of Saturn. Capricorn and Saturn usually reflect the values of patience, endurance, and hard work. This is pretty much the energy of the entire month! Capricorn and Saturn are clearly about duty and integrity, impulse-control, setting boundaries, and the eternal law of consequences. Think of Saturn as the planet that gives us the ability to do what we don’t feel like doing. Saturn is structure and endurance, yet interestingly, it does not complete a single major aspect to any planet except the moon during the entire month of December, while remaining the ruler of the month.

Uranus Retrograde Revisits Aries

From November 6th, 2018 to March 6th, 2019, Uranus retrograde makes a third and final aspect into Aries. It has been working on this stripping process and stoking the fire everywhere for the past year and a half. Uranus was at a critical crossroads with the karmic axis (transiting nodes) in June of 2017, and is again for the duration of this last pass through Aries. It’s a pressure-cooker aspect – one that is meant to blast through whatever it is that is blocking progress.

Jupiter in Sagittarius

On November 8th, Jupiter began a one-year transit of Sagittarius, its home sign. For better or worse, Jupiter puts everything on the move and on the upswing. Jupiter in Sagittarius sets us on a more voracious hunt for knowledge, truth, and achievement. During this transit we will see an increase of immigrants, those suffering religious persecution, and those displaced by war, politics, homelessness, etc. Abundance comes with the package. After all, Jupiter is the planet of expansion and spiritual growth. Let’s share more and love more this month.

Mars in Pisces

Due to a retrograde cycle, Mars has been on an especially long tour of Aquarius (since the middle of May). The transit has kept social and personal life matters in “shake, not stir” mode. Mars in Aquarius had been keeping things edgy, stressful, and uncertain. Now that Mars is in Pisces, which started on November 15th, we can ease up regarding any recent stress or pressure. It’s a good time to ease up and go with the flow. But, with Mars in Pisces transit, susceptibility increases, making it easy to take things personally or become a bit edgy. Be aware of consumption of alcohol and drugs with this transit.

Mercury Retrograde in Scorpio-Sagittarius

At the beginning of December (December 6th) we finished the last retrograde of 2018: Mercury retrograde in Sagittarius. In general Mercury retrogrades four times a year. In 2018, Mercury started the retrograde motion in a fire sign and finished in a fire sign. Throughout 2018, we saw sexual, financial, and law-related scandals. Criticism of self and others rose, and we felt the extreme in our thoughts and actions.

"Focus on gaining clarity."

During the New Moon in Capricorn, Mercury goes directly into Sagittarius. For the last month of 2018 we will see lies versus truth brought to light, and the exposing of weak links. Focus on gaining clarity on how to move forward and do what you want to do. Because Mercury will conjunct Jupiter in Sagittarius through the month, we will see legal issues and lawsuits soaring and making headlines, especially in the U.S.

This month, we need to find a way to switch our brains off, to quiet ourselves, and listen as much as we speak. In 2019, we will see Mercury retrograde motion start and end with the water element, occuring next in Pisces, from March 5th to March 28th, 2019.

This New Moon in Capricorn keeps the action going strong! Chodesh tov!
