Change is an exciting and necessary part of life. It inspires us to rethink things, presents us with new opportunities for growth, and allows us to unlock the fullest potential of our souls. We are changing all the time, whether we realize it or not. The choice we have is how we want to direct that transformation.

Here are 5 tips to make positive life changes and start living your best life:

1. Get in touch with what your soul wants from life.

Too often, people go through life without really knowing what they want to be, want to accomplish, or want their life to look like. Not knowing who we are or what we desire makes it harder to choose the right people and environment to surround ourselves with.

Knowing what you want makes you a strong person. You don’t have to go out into the world to discover what you want – your soul already knows. Our spiritual goal is to uncover that truth. While other people and places can help us in that journey, it is ultimately up to each of us to discover it within ourselves.

Make time to get in touch with your innermost self each day. The more you know who you are, what you love, what you hate, what excites you, and what drives you, the closer you are to achieving what you really want.

2. Avoid settling for “good enough.”

We tend to settle for things in life because they are safe or comfortable. We might not even realize we are settling! Some of these thoughts look like, “This isn’t the job I really wanted, but I’m lucky to have one,” or, “This isn’t the relationship I wanted, but my partner is nice and loves me.” We can get stuck in living in a place that seems good enough for today but not for forever.

When we settle, we live life without really experiencing it as it’s meant to be. It’s like having your senses dulled. Know that you do not need to settle in any area of your life that isn’t completely fulfilling. No matter how great your life is, there is always another level and something new to discover. Yearn for something more, deeper, richer, lasting. Living with intensity and fullness is how life is meant to be.

3. Endeavor to learn from your mistakes.

You are who you are at this very moment because of your previous experiences, including your mistakes. Through that lens, mistakes aren’t bad, simply part of the journey. We can waste so much of our life and energy regretting the past that we don’t enjoy the present. We are meant to spend our energy looking forward, not backward.

Mistakes are a necessary part of learning, and they do not define us. You are not the last bad thing you did. You are meant to keep rising above and growing. Even after making the worst mistake imaginable, you can ascend to the highest heights of growth, blessings, Light, and connection. Continue always to celebrate who you are and where you are in your journey.

4. Embrace challenges as opportunities.

We don’t always get to choose what happens to us, but we can choose how we feel and react to it. When challenges occur, we can choose to adopt either a reactive or proactive mindset.

Being reactive means we respond immediately to whatever comes up, without trying to understand its purpose or making room for the Creator in the situation. We might yell at someone who angers us or get upset when things don’t go exactly as we planned. A proactive mindset, on the other hand, means we pause and reflect on the situation, knowing that the Light of the Creator is there and that there is something to be gained from the challenge.

By shifting your consciousness to proactively see challenges as opportunities, you take back the power to direct your life. You stop being a victim of circumstance and start taking charge of your future. This is the mindset that ultimately brings lasting growth and fulfillment.

5. Don’t wait for life to happen to you. Create it!

Change requires action – urgent and immediate every day. We know we have to plan things and strategize sometimes, but we often get caught up in planning to the point that we never take the steps towards actually completing those goals.

Positive change begins with a thought, belief, or idea, but it requires action. Think about where you were last year. Are you taking more actions (small or great) this year than you did then? If so, that’s a great indication you are making positive progress towards meaningful transformation. If not, find ways to start taking action, no matter how big, each day.

Any change we wish to see begins with a change we make within ourselves. Get in touch with your innermost self and what your true desires are for life. Know that there is so much more fulfillment, joy, and Light to be gained by pushing beyond your comfort zone or what is “good enough” for now. From that place, strive to learn from your mistakes, see you’re the opportunities in your challenges, and take actionable steps toward change. That is a winning formula for a thriving life full of positive transformation.
