The things that we care about most are often the things that cause us the most insecurity. When we experience success, this insecurity can sometimes lead to what’s known as imposter syndrome, the feeling of being a fraud or somehow undeserving of our accomplishments despite putting in effort and working hard. We may feel we got a lucky break or that we’ve fooled everyone into thinking we are more skilled than we really are. We know that there are people who are even more hard-working and talented than us who haven’t made it to where we are, so we feel guilty and self-conscious.

Imposter syndrome can rob us of the fulfillment that comes from our accomplishments. It can make us lose focus on our spiritual purpose and prevent us from using our skills and gifts to reveal our unique Light that the world needs. Overcoming these negative thoughts and understanding where our gifts come from is key to living a thriving, fulfilling life and pursuing our life’s work.

Here are 3 tips for building self-confidence and removing imposter syndrome:

1. Understand that your skills and successes are gifts from the Creator.

Insecurity comes down to a fundamental question: why do we have what we have? Not just money or physical things but also our intellect, skills, and abilities. We tend to think it’s up to us alone to create those things for ourselves – to study, work hard, hone our skills, and then pursue our goals. While those are important elements of our work, the truth is that everything we have is a gift from the Creator, both our inherent talents and our ultimate successes. Our job is to do our part of the work to merit the gifts, but we are merely the conduits for them, not the owners of them.

This shift in consciousness helps to alleviate the pressure and guilt that can cause imposter syndrome. We know that there are many people as smart or driven as us who don’t see the same success we do, but that doesn’t mean that we are undeserving. We are meant to work hard and invest time and effort into our goals, but at the end of the day, whatever we do accomplish is a gift given to us from the Creator.

Know that you are not creating your success alone. The Creator is allowing you to share something powerful with the world.

2. Remind yourself you are a window for the Light of the Creator to shine through.

A window allows beautiful light to shine into a building, but it is not the source of the light. In a similar way, we are a window that allows the Light of the Creator to shine into the world. A lot of insecurity stems from not understanding our place in the world. When we realize that our job is to reveal the Light of the Creator, it gives us clarity and focus. Having this awareness allows us to live a life where we are both successful and where our relationship to success is a healthy one.

Your talents, abilities, and accomplishments are given to you for a reason – so that you can share the Light of the Creator with the world in a way that only you can. Through every success or moment of joy, remind yourself that you are simply the window allowing the endless Light of the Creator to shine through. You will find you not only become a greater conduit of blessings but also are better able to remove insecurity.

3. Catch the negative thoughts that hold you back.

We are all capable of revealing even more blessings in the world and finding even greater fulfillment in our lives than we currently experience, but we often allow negative thoughts of fear and doubt to impede us. These thoughts are like blockages that cover more and more of our spiritual window, allowing less and less Light to filter through. Our job is to clear these blockages, allowing more blessings to flow.

Go about your day with goals, desires, and purpose, and put all of yourself into pursuing them while working to eradicate the doubt, fear, and uncertainty that hinder you. Be aware when those thoughts appear. Understand that they only put limitations on what your soul is meant to bring into this world. The more you catch these thoughts and work on eliminating them, the freer you become to share your gifts and your soul’s purpose with others.

We all have moments of insecurity and self-doubt that can lead to feeling like an imposter when we are successful. If you want to grow your ability to manifest and experience greater blessings while removing these feelings of doubt or guilt, remind yourself over and over that the success you experience is really the Light of the Creator shining through you. To the degree you are consistent and strong with this consciousness, the more your window stays clear and clean, the more you allow Light to shine through. Not only does this bring more fulfillment and joy to our own lives, it also brings more blessings into the world.
