Welcome to the month of Sagittarius, Kislev in Hebrew, symbolized by the centaur archer.
Sagittarians, as people, are all about expansion, be it physical expansion, as in travel and exploration, or mental expansion, as in philosophy, reading, thinking, and writing. The energy of Sagittarius contains Chanukah, the 8-day window in time through which the energy of miracles flows into this world. As a result, people born in this month possess a kind of simple “knowing” that miracles can and do occur, an asset that makes them inherently lucky in life.
"Miracles can and do occur."
As a fire sign, Sagittarians are not usually known for their tact and sensitivity. Like the archer that symbolizes this month, people born under this sign can shoot their words like arrows without taking into consideration exactly what the other person will hear and can handle. As a result, part of their correction is to constantly practice pausing before speaking and to consciously step outside of themselves to think about others.
Since we will all be affected by this Sagittarian energy for the next four weeks, it will behoove us to be especially careful of what we say and how we say it in this period of time.
"Our words have power, and we can use that power for good or for bad."
The Bible portion Vayetze (which we will read this month) tells the story of how Rachel stole the idols of her father, Laban, because she didn’t want him to worship them. Jacob, her husband, not knowing she was the one who had taken them, said to Laban, “Whoever is the thief must surely die.” Later, because of these words, Rachel died in childbirth. Even though Jacob didn’t know the ramifications of what he had said, his words nevertheless had the power to dictate the course of events.
Angels constantly surround us, and they immediately transfer whatever comes out of our mouths into an attempt to manifest that energy. Our words have power, and we can use that power for good or for bad. We can use our words to bring more Light in the world, to create miracles, and to help us manifest our dreams. At the same time, we can use our words to speak ill of others, to bring people down, and to add to the darkness in the world.
True, none of us are on the spiritual level of Jacob and Rachel, so our words will not necessarily have the same powerful effect as theirs did. But no matter what level we are on, we must be conscious that what we say creates our future.
This month, let’s make sure that the arrows we shoot out into the universe are positive so they bring only positivity and Light back to us and to the world.
