On Monday, June 3rd, we are finally entering lunar Gemini! The New Moon’s chart is packed with eight air planets, all ready to go and four planets are already in Gemini.
As you may have guessed, the cosmic message this month is all about networking and communication. Time to optimize our openness to new ideas, and, of course, others. However, since the chart’s rising is Taurus, it’s important to consider WHEN and HOW to express ourselves. In other words, we need to be a bit more calculated about it.
In fact, the key to understanding lunar Gemini is the word “speech.” A great kabbalist by the name of Onkelos calls man “the animal who can talk.” What a strange definition! All animals can surely communicate, but here the emphasis is on speech. This is the very reason why both months of Gemini and Virgo are ruled by the same star, and are very important time zones.
When we take a closer look, we notice the zodiac is loaded with animals (and objects). The ram, the bull, the goat, the crab… It’s a jungle out there! Gemini and Virgo are of the few signs represented by humans, and both are ruled by Mercury, the carrier of knowledge and messenger of the planets. Men are born to speak, communicate, unite groups, and spread understanding. And that’s exactly the energy revealed this month.
Now, let’s give our lovely Geminis a little roast…
Gemini is a perfect Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde personality. It’s very difficult to completely know them. Social and communicative, they even talk in their sleep! They are very gregarious, and love gossip and juicy stories. Geminis have a way of finding out about everyone’s secret life. Journalism is, indeed, a great career for these 180-degree people!
Very easy to relate to, there is always something interesting to learn from a Gemini — unfortunately, not really in depth, though. Geminis are perfect crowd surfers: they know a little bit about everything, just enough to maintain a great conversation. Yet, they are extremely curious and known for their fantastic and often photographic memory. Gifted with an ear for languages, the power of their speech is legendary. Many politicians are born under this sign, because they can convince an Eskimo to buy ice. The drive of this sign is purely intellectual: brain stimulation is the most important thing. That’s also why Geminis are often called jacks of all trades!
Our teacher, Rav Berg used to stress the idea that Gemini is the central of the central column energy, the Light of restriction, which is only applicable to mankind. This is also the reason why this month was cosmically chosen to carry the Light of Shavuot, the revelation of the Ten Utterances, like the ten sentences God used to create the world in the Book of Genesis. We all know the famous words of the magicians: Abracadabra, which is actually Aramaic for, “Let it be created in accordance to my words!” Their body parts are the central nervous system and the lungs.
Famous Geminis who fully used their speaking powers include Anne Frank, John F. Kennedy, Che Guevara, Henry Kissinger, Bob Dylan, Thomas Mans, Blaise Pascal, Clint Eastwood, Joseph-Ignace Guillotin, Richard Wagner, Alessandro Cagliostro, Queen Victoria, Marilyn Monroe, Arthur Conan Doyle, Ian Fleming, and Paul Gauguin.
Our spiritual goals for the month are:
- Control your speech.
- Bring real depth to all learning.
- Commit and follow through with all promises.
- Choose ONE goal to focus on and accomplish it.
- Recognize your mistakes.
- Helping others is more important than obtaining knowledge.
Chodesh tov (Good month) to everybody!
