Lag b'Omer: The Night of the Zohar
May 22
Michael Berg

On the 33rd day of the Omer, a positive, intelligent energy is transmitted throughout the universe. Rav Shimon bar Yochai, the author of the Zohar, chose to leave this world on this day. He did so because it is a day on which, every year, a massive amount of Light is revealed throughout the cosmos that removes all darkness. By leaving the world on this day, Rav Shimon formed a bridge into the spiritual realm, fusing with and giving us access to that powerful Light. In the twelve years that Rav Shimon spent studying the Torah and revealing the Zohar in a cave, he completely transformed himself. He went through a spiritual process to remove all traces of the Desire to Receive for the Self Alone, and became a true being of sharing. On Lag Ba’Omer, we can connect to the soul of Rav Shimon, elevating our consciousness to a point that we can repair any separation from the Light. Through our connection, we can go back in time to negative events and correct our actions and intentions at the seed level. We can follow Rav Shimon’s example and use his assistance to transform ourselves, drawing infinite blessings while washing away selfishness and negativity.
