In this lesson, Michael reveals a concept meant to completely change our lives. We learn that the entire purpose of existence is not to be that of a sharing person, a caring person, or even a spiritual person. In fact, the kabbalists teach that the only way to achieve true and lasting fulfillment in life is to experience the death of the ego for the sake of another. If we wish to merit life and carry out the mission of our soul, we must allow aspects of our ego to die and share in ways where we receive nothing in return.
All too often, we aren’t able to appreciate our blessings until we lose them. It’s too easy to connect to the lack of what we don’t have, instead of feeling appreciative of all we do have. With this week’s dual energy of Acharei Mot-Kedoshim, we are supported to appreciate the people and things in our life while they’re here, as if they could be gone at any second, without having to lose them to see their true value.
