Lesson Highlights

  • Joseph deceives his brothers: Correcting Jacob’s deception of Isaac
  • The power of speech and rearranging decrees in the cosmos
  • Unity through the joining of kings: Joseph and Yehuda, David and Saul
  • Joseph and Benjamin weep, the neck, and the destruction of the Temples
  • Transformation through negativity
  • Benjamin’s connection to Mordechai and Purim
  • Remembering where we came from
  • Appreciation and our personal exiles

Lesson Description

Karen explains the connections between the story of Joseph and his brothers’ time in Egypt with the earlier event of Jacob deceiving Isaac for his birthright (in the portion of Toldot). Jacob, Joseph and the tribes of Israel came into exile in Egypt for the purpose of correcting past negativities. By appreciating our own exile or our own challenges as well as remembering where we came from, we elevate sparks of Light and can transform negativity into blessing.

About This Course

One of the major spiritual connections kabbalists make on the Sabbath is the reading of a weekly Bible portion. These consciousness lectures present lessons on each week's portion to elevate our consciousness and create awareness of the spiritual energy and gifts that are available through the reading of a Torah Scroll. With greater awareness and an awakened consciousness, we can connect to the Light revealed each week and use it as support in our ongoing spiritual work.
