Lesson Highlights

Today, I am going to give you a powerful tip that’s going to teach you how to eradicate fear from your life instead of learning to live and cope with it:

Fear is Not an Option.

Fear works in ways to keep us small and coaxes us into letting it steal our most valuable possession: our potential. But when fear is no longer an option, you have to look for other viable options.

So ask yourself today…

1) What is fear stealing from you?
2) And if fear was no longer an option what would be? And then, go do that!

Lesson Description

Let me start with a question.

When you leave your house for vacation, or even for the day, do you lock your doors and windows? Maybe you set an alarm. You lock your car when you get out of it, secure your bike to a rack, you keep your valuables in a safe, and your money in a bank. We take steps to keep our physical belongings safe. Why? Because we value them!

We would never consciously allow anyone to steal from us. Why, then, do we allow our fears to steal from us so often?

Fear works in ways to keep us small. It coaxes us into allowing it to steal one of our most precious possessions: our potential. Instead of going for what we want, we make excuses such as:

  • bad timing
  • other people
  • less than optimal circumstances
  • I’m too old/too young/too _____

Rather than running away from our fears, the great kabbalist the Baal Shem Tov taught that all fears we have are to awaken a change.

Think about the fears you have and think about areas where you aren’t meeting your own goals or expectations. There’s probably a fear lurking there that is getting in the way. Then identify which kind of fear it is. There are three kinds of fear:

  • Healthy fear typically manifests as a visceral, instinctual response to a physical threat. We need this type of fear for our survival and protection. For example, if you are standing on a high ledge, healthy fear kicks in and cautions you to step back. It keeps you safe. Listen to that inner voice; it will not lead you astray.
  • The second type, real fears, are unavoidable. We all worry about not achieving our dreams. We fear losing the people we love most. Can these fears consume us? It depends on how you frame them.

Real fears can be empowering. For instance, if you fear losing people you love, put your energy toward being completely engaged when spending time with them and fully appreciate that they are here now. If you fear the process of aging, perhaps this energy could be spent exercising and making dietary changes to ensure that the golden years are more healthful. Real fear can be used as a powerful motivation for using our thoughts and spending our time wisely.

  • Let’s talk about illogical fears. These are the worries that keep you awake at night and hijack your daytime thoughts. Are you terrified of spiders? Heights? Cockroaches? Do you avoid driving on freeways? Fear of public speaking? Yep, those are illogical fears, too.

Today, I challenge you to explore those places in yourself where fear has held you back. Identify your biggest fears and what type they are: healthy, real, or illogical.

And from there, we’ll address them one at a time and learn ways to put them where they belong–which is out of our lives!

About This Course

One of the great gifts in studying Kabbalah is that we become more aware of the energies around us. Each day, week, and month has its own unique energy with differing powers that inform us. This month of Virgo is one of the most consequential months of the year, full of the energy of deep transformation. Over the next 30 days, we will assess, evaluate, and rethink 10 of the most important areas of your life. First, we will look at what is working and what isn’t working. I will help you identify your desire – the thing that you really want for that area of your life–not the thing you only think you want, or think you should want, or what others think you should want. From there, you will make your plan. You’ll make it actionable, doable, and motivating. I’m so excited and grateful that you are all joining me on this journey to rethink, reframe, recalibrate, and re-energize your life.
