Lesson Highlights

  • Review: there are two main paths of reality
  • Before Tzimtzum (Endless Light)
  • After Tzimtzum (Five Worlds)
  • How do we stay in the reality before Tzimtzum? Panim Meirot (Rav Ashlag)
  • From the Tzimtzum downward, cause and effect exist
  • Everything after Tzimtzum involves a Vessel
  • Vessel is a term for - desire to receive the Endless Light
  • Vessel has the essence of Light, but it is Light that has become thicker, dense
  • If we stay in the realm before Tzimtzum, there is no change of form, no Vessel
  • The moment we think about lack or change, we enter the realm after Tzimtzum
  • When we feel the Light, we feel a desire for the Light; if we pause (restriction) and do not act, we stay in the Endless Light. If we immediately act off impulse, we move into the realm after Tzimtzum. We create a vacancy of Light, empty space
  • When we hold on to things, they become heavier. When we let go, they become lighter. The same is true of our desire and the Light
  • The reality after Tzimtzum includes two lacks (two types of emptiness)

Homework: Reflect on where in your day you acted before Tzimtzum veres after Tzimtzum. Make an effort to stay in the realm before Tzimtzum using restriction.

Lesson Description

In this lesson, Yehuda continues to explain the two main paths of reality: before Tzimtzum (Endless Light) and after Tzimtzum (Five Worlds), specifically focusing on how we can keep ourselves in the realm before Tzimtzum (Endless Light). Learn about the relationship between lack and desire as it relates to Tzimtzum.

About This Course

Rav Yehuda Ashlag, renowned founder of The Kabbalah Centre, wrote several seminal kabbalistic texts that illustrate key understandings for applying the ancient wisdom into our lives. Amongst his works is a book on the Tree of Life – otherwise known as the Ten Emanations/Sefirot that make up our reality – which provides a foundation on how to connect with the consciousness behind each of the Ten Emanations, giving us the ability to awaken that particular level in our life. Join us for an in-depth study of each of the Ten Emanations as detailed in Rav Ashlag’s book, 'Tree of Life with Panim Meirot and Panim Masbirot'. As we study Rav Ashlag’s powerful insights into the Sefirot, we’ll learn how to build a unified consciousness with the intention of elevating not only ourselves, but the entire world to a level free from pain and suffering.
