Lesson Highlights

  • Panim Masbirot (Rav Ashlag)
  • What is the purpose of creating a reality with so many different realms and levels?
  • For humanity to have the free will to activate and elevate Da’at (consciousness) on their own
  • For humanity (the emanated beings) to enjoy the Endless Light
  • If the purpose of creation was for us to be fulfilled from everything, why do we need to be in a physical world that is filled with negativity, pain, suffering, etc.?
  • Why would the Creator confine a Soul (spark of Endless Light) to a body?
  • With every free gift comes a “defect” (Bread of Shame)
  • Creation helps Souls to avoid this Bread of Shame by creating a world that involves work (effort) and a condition in which we can only enjoy in the future (World to Come) what we work for today
  • When we speak about ‘work’, we are referring to consciousness work, effort
  • Work in this world is temporary; the World to Come is eternity
  • How can we measure earning or fulfillment between two worlds? We cannot
  • We can not earn Endless Light technically; we already have it within us, we just need to know how to go back to it (before Tzimtzum)
  • Consciousness work, restriction, is not about creating new Light; it’s about bringing ourselves back to the Endless Light that we have already tasted but have become separated from

Homework: This week, reflect on the “work” you do and why you do it. Is the work mostly physical, spiritual, physical and spiritual? Is the motivation to receive more or to return to what already is (Endless Light)?

Lesson Description

Bread of Shame is a concept that gives us key insights into how to receive and keep the fulfillment we desperately seek. Join Yehuda to learn more about when and how this concept first came into existence and how it applies to the way we navigate our desires today.

About This Course

Rav Yehuda Ashlag, renowned founder of The Kabbalah Centre, wrote several seminal kabbalistic texts that illustrate key understandings for applying the ancient wisdom into our lives. Amongst his works is a book on the Tree of Life – otherwise known as the Ten Emanations/Sefirot that make up our reality – which provides a foundation on how to connect with the consciousness behind each of the Ten Emanations, giving us the ability to awaken that particular level in our life. Join us for an in-depth study of each of the Ten Emanations as detailed in Rav Ashlag’s book, 'Tree of Life with Panim Meirot and Panim Masbirot'. As we study Rav Ashlag’s powerful insights into the Sefirot, we’ll learn how to build a unified consciousness with the intention of elevating not only ourselves, but the entire world to a level free from pain and suffering.
