Who is Closest to the Creator?

This week, I’d like you to think about this question: Who is closest to the Creator?

Is it the person who has done everything right in life and has always been a good boy or girl? Or is it the person who has done negative things, gone into the darkest places, but eventually says, “I’m not going there anymore; I’m going to take that energy and convert it into positivity”?

We know from a kabbalistic perspective that it’s the second person because it doesn’t matter how “good” we are (or we think we are) but rather how much negativity we have managed to overcome.

In spirituality, we say that curses are more important than blessings because only in curses can we find the beauty of existence. Only in darkness can we grow to be like the Light. Indeed, those of us who have had to stand against adversity to be who we are have became stronger because of it.

Many times, people say, “You know, I have so many things going wrong in my life.” For sure, a lot of us go through all kinds of different challenges in this life. The choice we have is how we are going to deal with them. Are we going to going to give up and say, “Poor me, I’m a victim. I can’t do anything about it. This is my life; I have no choice”? Or are we going to stand up and take control of our lives?

Today, even scientists are telling us that everything exists only in consciousness. We can overcome almost any adversity if we decide with certainty that we can do it.

Of course, there are things we cannot do, no matter how much certainty we have. If you choose to jump from a tenth-story window and you have certainty that you not going to die, trust me, it won’t work. No question about it.

But that’s not the certainty I am talking about. I’m talking about the certainty that when we rise above the clouds, the sun is always shining.
