David Varela was born in 1982 in Panama City, Panama, and has always been interested in understanding how the universe works. His favorite subject in school was physics and after graduating as an industrial engineer from Worcester Polytechnic Institute in Massachusetts, USA, he wanted to delve deeper into topics such as quantum physics, modern science and futurism.
In 2008, after an all-night conversation about these topics, David was introduced to Kabbalah by a friend. He recommended the latest book written by his now teacher, Rav Phillip Berg, "Nano". It offered him another avenue to explore science and unify it with spirituality.
Months later, he formally began his Kabbalah studies. At the same time, he attended the first executive program at Singularity University in Sillicon Valley, California. This made it clear to him how spirituality is indispensable for the evolution of humanity.
A year later, he decided to leave his career as an engineer to become a "Chevre" and traveled to Los Angeles where he trained with senior teachers at the Kabbalah Centre. Then, Karen Berg, then director of the Kabbalah Centre, sent him to Mexico City where he formally began to serve this wisdom.
Today, David is married, has two children and is one of the leading instructors of Kabbalah in Spanish. At the same time, he is in charge of the administrative management of the Kabbalah Centers in Mexico and Latin America.
David shares with us that studying and practicing this wisdom has allowed him to evolve personally at an accelerated pace and has given him a profound meaning to his life. For him, it is one of the greatest merits to teach and influence the lives of his students. A practical and logical approach to kabbalistic concepts is what makes him so popular with students.
