What if every child knew their supposed ‘flaws’ are actually their greatest gifts?
What if they understood that what makes them ‘different’ is actually their superpower?
Launching October 18th, 2022 during Dyslexia Awareness Month, The Gift of Being Different tells the story of eight-year-old Abigail. When she learns that she has a superpower, she doesn’t feel all that special. In fact, she feels a little stupid. With the help of her mom, Abigail learns that her superpower (a diagnosis of dyslexia) is actually pretty cool and allows her to think and problem-solve in unique ways. Abigail discovers that the thing that makes her different is actually the greatest gift of all.
Created by mother-daughter team Monica Berg and Abigail Berg – who, at nine years old, makes her writing debut – The Gift of Being Different follows Abigail as she makes her way through the beautiful messiness of her young life. Written for children ages 5-10, this beautifully illustrated book helps shine a light on the many tremendous superpowers we are each born with but do not necessarily recognize.
