We are entering the portion called Ki Tetze. This chapter of the Torah deals with military tactics for war. Thus, this week we receive the energy of boldness and courage to confront whatever conflicts we are experiencing in our lives. However, it is important to be aware that the enemy does not always live outside of ourselves.
Mars, the planet of war, is conjunct with Mercury, which is the ruler of the month of Virgo, bringing martial energies into the cosmos. Mars highlights desire, boldness, courage, and the ability to "fight the good fight," that is, the war against limiting belief systems. Our inner voice might say, "You are not good enough," or "Having a life full of Light is too good to be true." Resist these ideas.
Note: on the flip side, Mars can direct this energy towards other people, so be careful to keep judgments in check.
Within a few days, we will enter the time zone of kabbalistic renewal, known as Rosh Hashanah. The internal work focused on consciousness and belief systems done before this period directly affects the year ahead. The work we do is akin to war as we expand our mindsets and open ourselves up to an incredible new year, new life, and new positive energy. Use the energy of Mars to gather the bravery needed to challenge, question, and destroy the worst of all enemies: self-doubt and selfishness.
In order to make the best use of this Mars-Mercury conjunction, we can use a meditation provided by Karen Berg for the week of Ki Tetze.

"This week in your meditation, see yourself as a great General at sea. Close your eyes and imagine yourself sailing the great ocean. You can feel the sea mist on your face and wind in your hair. As the ocean churns, so does your heart and its desire for the very best in life. You are in pursuit of Love. The sea has been rough at times, but you have the courage to charter on and continue the course. Ahead lies the land that has been promised, a land of peace and fulfillment. But for now, you continue on through the tides of life. You know inside that awakening your heart to sharing and giving is not always easy, but you are willing to make the effort, because you know the giver is always the one who wins. With the Creator like the wind at your back, you seize on because Love is the reason we came to this world. Love is what we need to fix every problem we face. Love is our good fight, and it is worth the battle to reveal it in the world."
