The story of Re’eh is the only biblical story with one of the 72 Names of God as its title. Rav Berg taught that the word Re’eh (Resh, Alef, Hei) means “to see.” And this portion gives us a deeper connection to the power of miracles and wonders so that we may see beyond the physical world. Interestingly, there is no Zohar commentary on this biblical chapter of Re’eh. By its absence, glean the importance of not only viewing the world on a physical level but also on a soul level. Kabbalists teach that observing has little to do with what we see in the world around us. In order to experience change, we must see the deeper truths that underlie our world. Prayer is one tool for spiritual transformation or another way of “seeing.”
Astrologically speaking, we have the transition of the Sun into Virgo, encouraging us to look within. We move out of Leo, where the Sun radiates its energy, and right into Virgo, where we can focus more on our souls. The energy of this week encourages us to define our spiritual goals with a focused vision and get back to how we want to be of service in the world. Be honest and ask yourself where you can up your game when it comes to connecting to your soul’s desire. What bad habits need to go?
This period emphasizes the importance of attention to detail and getting to know ourselves inside out. With Mercury still in retrograde until August 28th, it’s the perfect opportunity to start integrating the lessons you’ve learned. This is also an ideal time to detox, not just your body and mind but your emotional self, as well. Be honest with yourself about what truly matters for your future. Don’t be afraid to rewrite the rules of life. This is your moment to start unhooking yourself from the norms that no longer serve you and redefine what success, happiness, and fulfillment really mean. Let’s connect to the portion of Re-eh and truly connect to and see the blessings in it.
