The chapter of the week speaks of the death of Moses, with Joshua being chosen as his successor. The Zohar says that Moses represents the sun, thus, his death was like a sunset that gave way for Joshua, the moon, to shine.
This is a special week to observe the moon. The week begins with the moon in Taurus. As this is the strongest of all moon placements, it is a kind of exaltation of the moon, which matches the rising lunar energies into the cosmos.
When someone asks you, "What is your sign?" we are quick to answer. However, what we are really telling the other person is our sun sign. Yet, most of us don't even know their moon sign—that is, the placement of the moon at the time of their birth.
The moon tells us about our immediate reactive system. When a challenge happens, we have a natural automatic reaction. Let's suppose you are a kind, sweet, and loving Pisces. But you can burst into sudden and explosive fights with your partner. Then you discover you have a moon placed in a fire sign, giving you a "second" energy to your personality. Or perhaps, you are a very strong Leo, but you often fall into the reactive system of feeling powerless. Then you discover you have a moon in Pisces.
Knowing your moon sign can provide so much insight! Maybe, we are as much of the moon as we are the sun!
This week is an opportunity for self-knowledge. By knowing where your moon is placed, you can understand your reactive system and bring maturity to it. Just like the sun must set in order for the moon to shine (like Moses and Joshua), this week, we have the opportunity to let our moon sign shine without reactivity.
