This week's portion is rich in events and, therefore, energies. Beside the tremendous energy of the portion Masei, we also have the energy of the New Moon of Leo and the elevation day of Yosef Hatzadik, also known as Joseph the Righteous.
The chapter of Masei brings the book of Bamidbar to a close. As we continue through each book, we take along all the energy that we’ve gained from each previous week. It’s an incredible opportunity for growth. Bamidbar translates to, “In the wilderness…” As we bring with us all the previous lessons of “wilderness,” we are better able to keep chaos at bay through the month of Leo and the chaos that comes with it.
On the astrology side this week, Mercury is in Leo and trines with Jupiter in Aries. This transit is a fortuitous time to share what is on your mind, as it’s likely to be well-received. You may find you’re experiencing more mental activity than usual. This may mean you are coming up with lots of new ideas and have plenty to say about everything. Or you may feel more sensitive and emotionally vulnerable but still wish to grow and create progress with others. Find the bravery you need to have difficult but necessary conversations. Take care of yourself emotionally, and if something upsets you, try to understand what is at the center of this feeling.
With the death anniversary of Yosef the Righteous, we can connect to the energy of abundance and prosperity. Kabbalah teaches us that Yosef is the bridge or the link between the upper worlds and the lower worlds (the 99% reality and the one percent reality). His energy is here amongst us because once you call upon a tzadik on their death anniversary, they immediately make their presence felt, although we may not see them.
This month of Leo, or Av, is the composite of all the other eleven months. Av brings with it the energy of abundance and beneficence. This New Moon of Leo holds a powerful and dramatic month. It is an excellent time for formulating goals and achieving them. For example, we might concentrate on new ways to bring abundance and prosperity in every area of our life. Some of Leo’s lessons involve assuming responsibility and giving ourselves warmly and generously to others. This New Moon period is an excellent time to meditate upon some of the characteristics of Leo. Keywords for this self-expressive fire sign are noble, generous, hospitable, caring, warm, authoritative, active, and open—all traits that we can enhance, develop, and incorporate into our personalities. We all have Leo somewhere in our charts. Seek the coming month to improve those areas of life. It’s time to awaken our hearts and make significant changes in our lives and move in the direction of positive change.
