We are entering the last week of the kabbalistic month of Cancer. The New Moon of Leo will fall on Sunday, August 4th, even though the Sun is already in Leo.
Mercury has begun its journey in Virgo, its place of exultation. And on the same day that Mercury enters Virgo, the Moon enters Taurus, its place of exultation, which gives us a great energy of practicality. Here, we have a luminary and an important planet, both in their best location, and both are in good aspect to each other.
Mercury is the messenger and influences the way we communicate with others and ourselves. The Moon stores information and creates memories. When the two work together, we have a great opportunity to elevate our spiritual practice. Our emotional intelligence derives from the ways we communicate and recognize others.
One thing to be careful of is that Virgo tends to lose sight of the big picture and can get stuck in the details. Virgo can also be crisis-oriented and thrive through chaos, though this is not necessarily a good thing. For Virgo, nothing seems perfect enough because the truth is that there is nothing completely perfect in the world. Remember that our lives each have a unique plan and place for our souls to grow. Whatever we have is perfect because it inspires growth.
But that doesn't mean that we have to stay stuck in an abusive situation or a negative environment. The lesson can lie in the process of introspection. Our physical reality is meant to help us transform our souls for the better and to connect with the Light of the Creator, the source of all blessings.
Mercury rules Gemini and Virgo. In Virgo, the planet is more serious, sharp, and responsible. But it can be drawn to gossip and seeing the negative in others. This week’s portion teaches us about the power of words. First of all, when we decide to do something or say something, we receive supportive energy from the universe to complete it. Our journey here is not to waste the energy the universe offers us. So, if we decide to do or to say something, we need to be certain it matters.
Venus in Leo squares Uranus in Taurus. Two things to be careful about: first, do not make irrational and fast decisions about relationships (i.e., ending one or committing to one). If there is a situation that needs to be resolved, take a few deep breaths, relax the nervous system, and then consider what the right solution is, regardless of anything from the outside. Sometimes, it is good to wait a few days or even weeks before making a decision. Second, Venus in Leo loves to spend money and enjoys “the good life.” But sometimes, when we overindulge in the “good life,” we suffer the consequences afterward. Be careful how you spend your money and make sure that it is really informed by the Light.
Tuesday, the Moon in Gemini conjunct Mars can bring some emotional frustration. This is here to teach us to communicate from a place of patience versus reactivity. Sometimes, we have the urge to express ourselves without listening to the other side or considering new understandings. Be sure to stay present during this time and make sure you are seeing reality. Do some breathing exercises and allow intuition to come to you.
This week, the kabbalists give us an amazing tool to understand the journey of our souls: the 42 letters meditation. Those 42 letters represent us and our journey, or in kabbalistic terms, our tikkune. Each one of us, according to the kabbalists, is in a different stage of our tikkune, a different letter from this amazing meditation. The recommendation is to do it twice a day. We can use this meditation together with what the planets are teaching us to see where we are in the journey of our lives.
