Happy New Astrological Year! We are starting a new astrological year. But it’s not until we’ve had the first New Moon of the New Year that things really start to kick into gear.
Aries, the ram, is ruled by Mars and is connected to the element of fire. A cardinal sign, Aries is associated with ambition, aggression, passion, charisma, energy, and power. Use the energy this month to reboot your resolutions and revamp your spiritual consciousness. That is what this week's portion, Tzav, is all about: to help us bring our consciousness to a higher level. The word Tsav means “command,” and in this weekly chapter, we have a list of commandments to Aaron and his sons concerning sacrifices.
I love this portion in particular. There are 96 verses in this week’s portion, which is the same as the numerical value of the name, Tzav. There is no other portion in which this is true. The Zohar says this portion has a very deep and lasting effect. Tzav discusses idol worshiping. According to the teachings, idol worship happens when people act in accordance with the commandments without making the inner connection. Kabbalah teaches tools, so we are able to make the inner connection to the Light. This portion is very special because it offers us the energy to overcome the chaos.
We also read the story of the Red Heifer this week, which gives us the understanding to cleanse ourselves and our lives of negativity. This portion of the Zohar teaches that if you truly want to help another individual, you must have empathy and feel their pain. If you really want to help someone, then you must feel their pain, otherwise, you cannot heal them. It all comes down to consciousness and your willingness to share.
And this energy continues with one of the most anticipated aspects of the decade: in March, the planet Pluto enters Aquarius for three months. Then it goes back to Capricorn until December of 2023. (Then, in January of 2024, Pluto will stay in Aquarius for 20 years.) For this aspect only, I could write pages! When Pluto enters a new sign, our lives (and the world) change in unprecedented ways. This happens every 20 years. With Pluto in Aquarius, we need to surrender to a higher power, to a higher consciousness.
With the energy of this week and Pluto in Aquarius, we can sacrifice our chaos and push ourselves to a higher consciousness. The various types of sacrifices that are mentioned in this portion correspond to the different levels of chaos. We need to understand that chaos comes into our lives in different ways and in different intensities. Therefore, through the sacrifices we make, we can eliminate these different levels of chaos from our lives. By reading the story of the Red Heifer (in combination with the amazing and powerful aspect of Pluto in Aquarius), we can remove this aspect of negativity from ourselves and from the cosmos.
