Each person has a unique purpose in this world. None of us are here by accident. We all have the ability and responsibility to reveal Light that only we can reveal. But finding our soul’s purpose can sometimes seem difficult or unclear, and pursuing our life’s work can be daunting and challenging.
Here are 4 tips to help you pursue your soul’s purpose:
1. Make sure your goals are connected to your values and who you truly are.
Goals are plans or lists we make of the things we want to achieve or accomplish. Intentions, meanwhile, are the thoughts behind them. If our goals and intentions are not aligned with our values, it can be difficult to make substantial progress.
The wisdom of Kabbalah teaches that a person will always eventually receive what they desire on their truest, deepest level. The reason we don’t accomplish or receive everything we want is because we don’t actually have a deep, true desire for them on a spiritual level. If something is truly at your core, you will achieve it through perseverance and true desire.
Begin with ascertaining the things you want. Ask yourself why you want them. Are they coming from a selfish place or as a means to feed your ego? Or are they an expression of your soul? How much do you desire, not just for more blessings in your life, but also to share your unique tremendous Light that the world has been waiting for?
2. Invest effort into transforming the parts of yourself that challenge you the most.
No one is perfect. We all have something we need to work on. In fact, transforming ourselves is a key tenet of our spiritual growth. It’s no easy feat! Often people on a spiritual path find they are able to be spiritual and elevated in all areas except the one area they came into this life to work on.
The greatest Light is always in the areas that are most difficult for us. It takes a tremendous investment of effort to accomplish the purpose of our souls. To completely reveal your Light that the world has been waiting for, find the things that are most difficult for you and attack them head-on.
3. Know that it’s OK to fail repeatedly. Anything worth doing is worth doing messy.
When starting to seriously pursue our goals, we often decide that, now that we have the energy or momentum to change, we should be able to move mountains immediately. The truth is that anything worthwhile will always come with setbacks and challenges. Some days we may do it well and some days not. Sometimes our desire isn’t strong enough to begin with or we don’t have enough clarity on what we are pushing towards, so when roadblocks come, they veer us off the path.
Anything worth doing is worth doing messy. You will likely fail again and again in your pursuit, but through that failure, you will learn what you’re made of. It’s how you get up again that teaches you who you are. Manage your expectations and be realistic. Take small step after small step to great change and perseverance.
4. Practice focusing less on what others think about you.
So much of our energy tends to be devoted to what other people think or say about us. It influences the way we talk, behave, and carry ourselves. Even when we do good things, we think so much about other people’s approval. One of the most important steps to manifesting our greatest Light is completely removing any thought of what others think about us. That is the only way our actions can come from our soul, not motivated by others.
This requires us to get comfortable in our skin and learn to love ourselves. Become your own best friend. Be so curious about yourself that you want to discover all the unique parts of yourself. The journey takes a long time, every day choosing to drown out the negative thoughts that tell us we are not enough. But from that space, you can reveal great Light and know what your soul is meant to achieve.
Pursuing our life’s work is not easy. It is designed to challenge us in ways that make us grow into the best possible versions of ourselves. Get in touch with yourself, set your intentions, and don’t shy away from the parts that you want to hide. Focus more on transformation and less on what others think of you. Know that it’s OK to stumble and fail sometimes, as long as you get back up, reassess, and learn from the experience. Through this, the path to revealing your soul’s Light will become that much clearer. The world is waiting for your unique Light to shine.
