Today we are still talking about fear.
We know a few things about fear. Namely, we know what it feels like and we know what scares us. Yet, we are usually at a loss when it comes to assuaging this discomfort.
Feeding the fear doesn’t serve us, and it doesn’t change the situation. It fuels an already chaotic situation and makes it worse. It doesn’t change the reality of what is, or what’s going to be, or what should be. It doesn’t do anything but paralyze us.
Most try to cope, but we can eradicate fear all together. To do that you need to be able to identify your fears:
1. Healthy fears keep us away from danger; we need a healthy dose of fear for cautionary measures.
2. Real fears are based on reality, like the fear of death and losing the people we love. They are based on something that is irrefutably real. Most of our fears will probably go in this category.
3. Illogical fears are not based on reality. They are completely illogical. Their only intention is to come into our lives to dominate us, get us stuck, and stop us from meeting our potential.
Today take the time to really identify your fears, name them and then go back and do something about them. Put yourself in front of them and challenge them.
It sounds simple, but that is the thing about fear. The only thing providing them sustenance is you. You feed the fear every time you give into it. Once you make the decision to give fear the boot, it no longer has a place in your mind, and therefore, no place in your life.
Today, we will move from identifying the fears that hold us back to visualizing our lives without them.
Remember:
Fear feeds an already chaotic situation and does nothing to solve it.
Kabbalah teaches that fear is related to the ego. Our ego makes us believe that we know what is best for us. When we get too attached to those notions, we start to worry we aren’t living up to them. Realizing that these ideas stem from our ego can help us to detach from these thoughts and start to listen to what the Creator has in store for us.
Transforming our fear is no easy task, but it begins with understanding the nature of fear. Knowing that fear separates us from the Light of the Creator allows us to reevaluate our intentions.
Now, look at your own list of fears. Focus on two that feel most limiting in your life.
Now, imagine what your life might look like if you hold onto these fears for a year. How about for five, ten, or twenty years? Imagine all of the things your fears might steal from you in that time.
Now visualize your life without these fears in a year… or five, or ten, or longer.
Write out your intentions for removing the two greatest fears you are facing now.
For example: I will stand up for myself in my relationship/job/other areas and make the changes necessary to ensure my happiness and peace of mind.
Congratulations! You have now taken an active step towards banishing your fears!
Tomorrow we’ll take more steps in the right direction. But for now, I’ll leave you with the forward from my book Fear is Not an Option:
I am the voice in your head that says
you aren’t GOOD ENOUGH, not STRONG ENOUGH, not SMART ENOUGH.
I am the one who keeps you SMALL.
Who STILLS your tongue,
who QUIETS your passionate voice.
I am the one who STOPS you.
Who says NO, who tells you to EXPECT LESS because that’s what you deserve.
I make your hands TREMBLE, your heart RACE, and your palms SWEAT.
I keep you up at night and give power to your DOUBTS.
My name is FEAR.
One of the great gifts in studying Kabbalah is that we become more aware of the energies around us. Each day, week, and month has its own unique energy with differing powers that inform us. This month of Virgo is one of the most consequential months of the year, full of the energy of deep transformation. Over the next 30 days, we will assess, evaluate, and rethink 10 of the most important areas of your life. First, we will look at what is working and what isn’t working. I will help you identify your desire – the thing that you really want for that area of your life–not the thing you only think you want, or think you should want, or what others think you should want. From there, you will make your plan. You’ll make it actionable, doable, and motivating. I’m so excited and grateful that you are all joining me on this journey to rethink, reframe, recalibrate, and re-energize your life.
