Today we are going to challenge our fears.
If you are human you are going to have fears. The goal is to identify them and be able to see the things that are working for you and the things that aren’t. If you don’t challenge your fear you’re going to develop a new fear. This cycle will continue on and on.
If you want to live a life without fear you have to be able to put yourself in situations that you’re afraid of. When you do you will realize that your imagination, anticipation, and trepidation are so much greater than actually going through with it. And you know what is even greater than all of those things? Your soul.
I have challenged myself in so many ways with any fear that comes up so fear is no longer an option. I challenge you to do the same today.
By now, you have identified at least two fears that have held you back from becoming your most fulfilled, radiant self. You’ve also identified what types of fear they are and visualized your life without them.
Today, I want to talk a little more about illogical fears—those worries that keep us awake at night and hijack our daytime thoughts.
According to Kabbalah, we are all balanced between two powerful forces: the positive and the negative. The positive draws us toward transformation, whereas the negative feeds our ego and fuels our desire for instant gratification. We need both sides of this duality to experience growth and realize our potential.
From this kabbalistic perspective, illogical fears come from the negative side to make us upset, depressed, and to create obstacles on our path. So, how do you get rid of them once and for all? Let’s start by identifying how they’re coming up for you.
Most illogical fears manifest as one of these:
· Prophesying: “I’m going to get on this elevator and have a full-blown panic attack.”
· Catastrophizing: “The elevator cables are going to break, and I’m going to crash to my death!”
· Over-generalizing: “I heard about an elevator getting stuck one time, so I’m never riding them ever again.”
How to handle it
When one of these thoughts crops up, recognize it as illogical, and ask the following questions:
· What around me contradicts this thought?
For example: The elevator seems new and is running smoothly.
· What action could I take if this were to occur?
I could always call for assistance using the elevator’s own alarm, and there is no indication that my cell phone won’t work.
· Is this thought fear-based?
Yes, I can clearly see that I am catastrophizing. There is no evidence that what I fear will come true, and all evidence is to the contrary.
Today, commit to challenging these fear-based thoughts!
In today’s video, I’ll provide tips and tools for working through fears and creating an action plan tailor-made for you. I always suggest that you write it down and put it somewhere where you’ll be reminded of it each day. Keep your goals manageable, and make sure they are things you truly want to change. And then, starting TODAY, take that first step towards reclaiming your life WITHOUT fear!
If you’d like to continue your work in this area, I recommend my book Fear is Not an Option. There, you’ll find more tips and tools to help you overcome the hurdles in the way of your most fearless and fulfilling life.
One of the great gifts in studying Kabbalah is that we become more aware of the energies around us. Each day, week, and month has its own unique energy with differing powers that inform us. This month of Virgo is one of the most consequential months of the year, full of the energy of deep transformation. Over the next 30 days, we will assess, evaluate, and rethink 10 of the most important areas of your life. First, we will look at what is working and what isn’t working. I will help you identify your desire – the thing that you really want for that area of your life–not the thing you only think you want, or think you should want, or what others think you should want. From there, you will make your plan. You’ll make it actionable, doable, and motivating. I’m so excited and grateful that you are all joining me on this journey to rethink, reframe, recalibrate, and re-energize your life.
