“Moses shows us in this portion that it is not enough just to know about the pain that is in this world; we have to truly focus our eyes and heart on it. Our Desire to Receive for the Self Alone, which will not let us lift a finger if not for our own sake, is strong enough that even our awareness of pain won’t assist us in breaking our nature and going out to help others completely. As such, we need to constantly remind ourselves to focus our eyes and heart on the pain; in so doing, we can possibly break our ego and push ourselves to assist others. It is a very important lesson.”
– Michael Berg on the Portion of Shemot
This week starts in perfect alignment with Michael’s Berg lesson of this week’s portion. With the moon entering Virgo for three days and forming a positive aspect with the sun in Capricorn, we are encouraged to take action. The sign of Virgo is very much solution-oriented and also known to put themselves in the position of helper with a desire to alleviate the pain and problems of others. This powerful alignment can push all of us to step up and become leaders. We may find ourselves looking around and focusing our eyes and hearts on the pain of others. This is a time to break our own egos and push ourselves to assist others.
“This powerful alignment can push all of us to step up and become leaders.”
Stepping up and doing something that brings meaning, change, and elevation for others can feel great. But here comes the potential trap of this week: Venus in Sagittarius forms a challenging aspect with Saturn in Pisces. This energy warns us to be more mindful and not allow the ego of feeling so righteous to creep in. Don’t allow any feelings of superiority to confuse you, and stay away from lecturing or trying to educate others. It’s a time to be more sensitive and apply humility, especially if you put yourself in positions that support others in need.
On January 4th, Mars ends its cycle in the sign of Sagittarius and enters Capricorn. The combination of Mars and Capricorn is a winning one. In astrological terms, Mars is exalted in Capricorn. We can all benefit from this transit in areas in our lives where we need to take action with passion, conviction, and motivation. Capricorn means serious business, and Mars is fiery, fierce, and powerful! Let’s put all those supporting forces together so it can work for us to create positive change and meaningful spiritual transformation.
